Comments: Thank you for this terrific site, and thak you to Mr Deming and crew for a show that was funny, scary, and weird all at the same time. Strangely, it pretty much seemed to set the stage for the rest of my life. When I showed this site to my kids, they said how lucky I was to grow up then. Thanks to folks like Mr Deming, I know they're right. Now, when ever my kids get candy when they're trick or treating, they thank you and Happy Haunting. Perhaps you might consider doing a Wikipedia page devoted to the show, with a link to this site. The whole world deserves to know about Sir Graves Ghastly. Dave

Comments: I enjoyed Sir Graves movies over the years since I was about 7 years old. I wish it had never ended and especially the way it did. But, because of him I can appreciate the movies of old and the movies of new thanks to him and for the years of scarring me when I was little. Thank you Sir Graves.

Comments: How wonderful to see a site, finally, for Sir Graves. I was a frequent viewer of Sir Graves in the late 1970's and early 1980's and can attest that Sir Graves was, quite simply, 'the Man.' A lovely site -- well maintained -- and one that brought back many, many, fond memories. Even here in New Brunswick, Canada (where I'm doing military training), I can still remember Sir Graves (and that *laugh* -- unmistakeable.) 2Lt. B.G. Billing. Royal Canadian Artillery. Canadian Forces.

I enjoyed Sir Graves immensely as a kid, and can remember settling down to a quiet Saturday afternoon in front of the TV and all the while my parents would bug me to go outside and do something productive, and quit wasting away in front of the tube, and such silliness!!! haha!! Sir Graves will always be my favorite....What memories you brought back!! Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!!

Comments: Growing up around DC, there were a number of local TV celebrities, including cowboys, sailors, and clowns. But, none were as memorable as when Sir Graves Ghastly hit the area on Saturday afternoons. His shtick transcended merely melodramatic, and was the perfect foil for the kind of B horror shows he hosted. Thanks, Gravey.

Comments: Brilliant site! As a kid, I'd watch his show religiously. As much as I loved Sir Graves, I loved the Glob. It was such a simple yet disturbing effect. Every year I host a horror fest at Halloween. Somehow, I think, Sir Grave's is responsible for my love of all things Happy and Haunted! Naaahhhaaaaaa.

Sir Graves Ghastly, how much I love and appreciate him and the work he has done, and the sheer ghoulish fun he has given Detroit-area viewers such as myself. I got indoctrinated to the horror classics thanks to Sir Graves, and I was a loyal viewer up until I went away to college and still managed to see Sir Graves every once in a while, thanks to early cable TV programming in my dorm and on home during school vacations. Comments: Watching Sir Graves Ghastly is probably one of my favorate childhood exeriences (born in 1968). Many were the day that I satyed in doors while other children played in the sun. It was my first introduction to all those wonderfull (and wonderfully bad) horror films. All the characters from the show were great, but Sir Graves was, and still is, the King. I became a director of horror movies (getting ready to do a vampire movie right now in fact) because of Sir Graves. God bless. john

Comments: I was watching the Tony Bennett special tonight which ended with him singing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." The intro to the song jogged my memory. I laughed to think of Tilly Trollhouse singing, "The loveliness of Paris, is somehow sadly grey...." So I googled Sir Graves and was so happy to read the history of the show and it's wonderful characters. I have such happy memories of sitting in front of the TV with a friend and having snacks and watching scary movies. But Sir Graves and his wacky characters pop into my mind and I have to laugh. The Glob! Tilly! And the beatnik guy! So funny. Thank you Sir Graves! You're the best! Love, Cynthia

Comments: I haven't seen anything that has rivaled Sir Graves Ghastly,he is a champion of wit,and campy humor.Tilly Trollhouse still makes me laugh.I argued with my best friend for hours over what the Glob was.(I said it was Sir Graves chin upside-down, she insisted it was a hand...)He was practically a hero in our house.Five kids, the eldest started with Morgus and then introduced us all to the delight of horror movies with Sir Graves and his menagerie of creepie guests. Sir Graves attended a Canada Parade in my hometown in Sarnia,Canada.I was a finalist ,dressed in a home-made attempt to be a Swamp Thing, with "green" garbage bags and green wool. When I crossed the stage he let out that raucous laugh and said whatever I was I was frightening. I stood right next to him and was more thrilled than if I'd gotten to stand by Cary Grant.I am thrilled to find this fabulous website, compiled by such a devoted fan. Thanks for a delightful walk back in time and great memories! I'll visit often!

Comments: I recently told my young son about a show I used to watch growing up in Birmingham, MI. He wanted to know all about it so I did a google search on Sir Graves Ghastly and found this site. This is great! After reading the show history, I just had tons and tons of memories come pouring back. I used to religiously draw the curtains and get settled on the couch to watch an old horror flick( and my mom used to yell at me to get out of the house rather than spend the afternoon infront of the TV). My son thinks its funny that I used to submit countless pictures to the Ghoulary and that I never once saw any of my work on camera (sore spot for me). Anyway, I wish I could find this kind of programming in Chicago today. Watching an old horror flick without an intro from Sir Graves is just not the same. Thanks for putting in the effort to build this site. I'll be back.

He was quite a character and I'm glad to hear he's still alive. I want to say to him...thanks for the memories. He was interviewed for the local newspaper, and we had a great turnout of people who were anxious to meet him. We still have the interview on tape. We can remember watching Sir Graves and his corny antics on Saturdays. He always made those horror films fun to see.

Comments: Sir Graves Ghastly is a fun and very fondly remembered part of my childhood. I remember looking through the TV Book on Sunday morning to see what movie would be featured for the following Saturday (and Saturdays were always diminished if he was pre-empted for sports). I remember watching Chiller Theater on channel 50 (with the frankenstein's Monster stirring the cauldron on the bumpers -- remember?) always watching the clock in anticipation to switching to Channel 2. My one real regret is that I was never able to meet Sir Graves (I went to the State Fair once and met Bozo -- apparently Sir Graves had been there the previous day...much to my eternal chagrin). Anyway, thank you most sincerely Mr. Deming -- great, great show. (Again, excellent job on the website Keith)

I recall one Halloween working to set up and perform at the haunted house we put together at the Grosse Ile Naval Base. Sir Graves was the surprise at the end. I had dressed as Dracula, and couldn't have been more thrilled as a 15 year old Sir Graves fan coming face to face with my TV hero--both of us done up as vampires. I was on Cloud 9 for weeks after that. Thank you, sir, for making my childhood that much richer.

Comments: It is my hope that Sir Graves will be read this by his endearing family. The Saturday Windsor Star (Sept 2, 06) featured a major article regarding Gordon Casteinero's new book TV Land Detroit. This article prompted many memories from my past (I am 43 now), to do with the local TV scene in Windsor-Detroit (Bill Kennedy etc). The picture of Sir Graves on page B2 was hauntingly familiar, and caused me to immediately search out the talented creepy host who always caused me to climb under the covers and watch my mom's TV. How quickly the stresses of every day living cause us to forget how wonderful our childhood was. I only wish that my children could enjoy your program today. I will always love you and the wonderful memories you have given. J.W.

Sir graves is the reason i have been a horror film fan for 40 years. Thanks Sir graves for those memories.

Comments: Sir Graves Ghastly was one of my favorite Saturday Afternoon...movie experiences...I was a young teen and was in fact very scared of many of the movies....I lived a very sheltered life...He was as cool as "Dark Shadows" shows that I used to watch in the afternoons...every day...But "Sir Graves Ghastly" was Saturday and everyone in school would talk about the movie the next Monday....Thanks for the site...it brought back great memories...I am sure I will visit often, now that I have found it...and I will tell my friends bring to back the fun...Pam J.

Some of the movies I would watch would give me nithgmares (when you are a child what didn't back then?)....but I found myself watching your show every Saturday just after Fat Albert. You are the best and I hope you are enjoying your retirement. Take care, a loved fan for many years.

I recall how thrilled I was in the late 1970's when Sir Graves Ghastly came to Sarnia for the Labor Day Parade! Does anyone remember that? He was in full costume of course and I could not forget what seemed like every kid in a 50 mile radius showed up! It was hundreds and hundreds of children. Sir Graves was even shocked at the mob who was there simply to see him. Thanks for the site! Thanks for the warm ghoulish memories. Thanks Sir Graves Ghastly!

Comments: Many a Saturday afternoon I spent huddled in my cozy basement bedroom with a bowl of Jiffy Pop and my 13” black & white with a big sheet of foil festooned to the antenna. After much anticipation, the spooky sounds, the creaking gates, and our beloved host, Sir Graves Ghastly, would finally illuminate the airwaves. I treasure these moments from my childhood. Talk about atmosphere! Lights off, I sat trance-like, drawn into this weird and wonderful world with only an occasional interruption from Roy O’Brien motors or to adjust my snowy picture with buttery fingers. Thank you, Lawson J. Deming, for many happy hours and an unforgettable introduction to the strange and hilarious world of scary movies, bad movies, and the greatest movie host, ever.

Comments: With Halloween near I just typed in Sir Graves Ghastly, and I found this great site. The creator should get an Emmy or Oscar or something. In the 70's Saturday was a great day. We would shut all the curtains and sit back and have fun watching Sir Graves the movies and that Hand or what ever it was. I really miss it. It is a shame that the shows may be lost forever. Channel 2 should be ashamed for not keeping copies. They lost a ture treasure. I wish my kids could watch it. They are 8 and 9 and it would be a great family activity for a saturday with the curtains shut and the TV turned up eating popcorn and chillin with Sir Graves Ghastly. He is a treasure that I miss. Please someone bring it back. Thanks for this great site keep up the good work.

Comments: We spent many a Saturday afternoon together as a family watching Sir Graves Ghastly. At that time, my biggest hope was to get a drawing featured in the gallery. My Sir Graves Memory: while driving between Detroit and Toledo on 1-75 in our old station wagon, we pulled along side a car. Imagine three kids going crazy, jumping up and down and screaming with excitement in the back seat when we saw the driver was Sir Graves in full custome and make-up. We all waved, even my Mom...and he waved back and gave us that devlish look. I'll never forget it. And I still get excited when I think about it some 30 years later. I was watching an old scary movie and thought of Sir Graves. I decided to look him up on the internet and was so happy to see he was still alive...and even living in my home town for the last 15 years. I loved learning more about the man behind the coffin too. Thanks for the great site and the walk down memory lane. I hope he somehow gets this post and realizes how ha

Comments: How delighted I am to come across this spooky yet endearing web site. I was born in Detroit in 1966 and watched Sir Graves every week. He was my favorite part of the show. I tuned in to watch him and rarely watched the feature film. One day my Grandma Smith took my brother and I to see Sir Graves in person at some sort of festival in Detroit. There he was in his coffin and I could hear the howling wind from the end of the long line of fans waiting to get their chance to meet him. I was terrified! But when it was my turn to shake his hand he was so nice and he set me at ease. He patted my head, smiled and asked me how I was and signed an 8x10 glossy for me. I remember it like it were yesterday! I love him.

Comments: OMG, I love this site. I grew up watching Sir Graves and watched the show religously. Was always into monster movies (also couldn't wait for Monster Week on the 4 O'Clock Movie). I remember telling some family members about how much I wanted to submit a drawing to Sir Graves, so one weekend when my Aunt and Uncle came to visit, my Aunt Marie presented me with the mailing address for Sir Graves. I spent the weekend creating my best rendition of Lon Chaney Jr's "Wolfman" (headshot) and had my mom mail the drawing in for me. Sure enough, a few weeks later, there was my drawing hanging in Sir Graves gallery. I still remember receiving a postcard with Sir Graves pic, thanking me for submitting the drawing (instead of black and white it was a moonglow sort of yellow and black photo). I wish I still had that postcard; I had it tacked to a bulletin board forever. :)

One of my great thrills was having my crayon drawing of the Wolf Man show up in his Ghoullery at about age 9. While I haven't seen a Sir Graves show in 30 years, the Glob used to crack me up. Wonder if that shtick would still seem funny today.

In fourth grade we went on a field trip to channel 2 and we were able to walk on the set of Sir Graves. What a thrill that was. My wife and I are the nieghborhood crazy's when it comes to Halloween and we have a graveyard with pillars, fences creepy fog, tombstones and staues very creepy. If the weather is good we have it up for a few day's and all the kids run to see our house and so do the parents. I saw your website and I am going to make a tombstone with Sir Graves and put it into the graveyard to see who remembers him. Thanks for the memories.
